A bit about me, Tracey-Jo and Challenge Consultancy

The internet can be a bit of an anonymous place to do business, so I thought I would introduce myself and tell you a bit about who I am and what drives me.

I run this business with the ongoing support of my husband David, who like me is a keen gardener and allotmenter!!

My career started as a teacher within further education, but having seen a great deal of discrimination and wanting to understand the needs of people with learning disabilities, whilst also ensuring they had a voice. I became a mature nursing student.

Since qualifying in the 90's, my wish for people to have a "voice" and the same opportunities as everyone else, has resulted in me being part of a pilot scheme to enable women the opportunity to access cervical screening and have also contributed to two University of Hertfordshire books, where I am a Visiting Lecturer.

Having worked in the NHS for 16 years, I was made redundant. This enabled me to further develop the part-time freelance work, already started in 1999 to a full time position, which is Challenge Consultancy.

I continue to develop professionally and personally and in 2010 I became a Social Care Broker, enabling people to access an individual budget through a direct payment from Social Services in order to meet their social care needs. However due to my current commitments and studying for an MSc in Practice Based Research, I have placed the brokerage on hold until September 2016.
